What Exactly is Pokémon Grape Edition?

Pokémon Grape Edition is a fan-made Pokémon game, created in the retro style, maintaining that nostalgic feel of the classics and adding fresh mechanics and an original story. Set in 1999, conflicting Frejo and Kelgo territories have placed you in the character's role, Marquis, a new trainer who has just been selected to vie for control of the Pokémon League. Filled with humor, deep lore, and modern twists on classic gameplay, this ROM hack now comes with an extensive journey featuring new Pokémon, types, and features.

Directions to Play

Begin Your Journey: Start as Marquis, the baseball phenom of Kelgo, and collect 8 badges before your rival, ruthless Paul, can.
Restore the Pokédex: Rebuild the lost Pokémon Database by catching all 248 species—both Fakémon and legendaries—to unlock the real ending.
Two Regions to Explore: Explore Frejo (larger than Kanto!) and Kelgo by land or Magnet Train through dungeons, side-scrolling areas, and hidden events.
New Features: Go karting at fast speeds instead of bicycling, use a couple of never-before-seen Pokémon Evolution methods (including "Place Evolution"), and wield cool items like Mining Pick or Magic Hammer.

Hunting Legendaries: Mew appears underneath the truck at the Port, and seek your chance to see Ho-Oh just as in FireRed/LeafGreen—events are coming!
Type Advantage: Learn your way around all 25 Types, including the new Light, Sound, and Gas types, to emerge victorious from any battle.
Snag Ball: Steal Pokémon from your opponent during battle using the rare Snag Ball.
Repel Fun: Use the Black 2/White 2 version of Repel to avoid weak wild encounters.
