What Is Pokémon Red+++?

Pokémon Red+++ is an awesome fan-made reimaginative edition of the classic Pokémon Red, meant to modernize-the-like-of-the first Gen 1 experience while staying true to its roots. It fixes most of the original game quirks and introduces many new things coming from late generations, such as Physical/Special split, Fairy-type Pokémon, and Shiny hunting. It further increases the Kanto region with new venues and quality-of-life-lists. If you're a bitktic or merely nostalgic, this new adventure might just be the familiar-yet-new, exciting one!

How to Play

Gameplay-wise, it remains the same as Pokémon Red—travel throughout Kanto, fight trainers, collect Gym Badges, and take on the Elite Four. The major enhancements however, include:

Running Shoes and Faster Movement! — No more slow walking!
Updated Battle Mechanics! — Gen 6 moves, types, and AI.
Offline Wonder Trade! — Set up a trade at any PokéCenter.
Expanded Pokédex! — Later-gen evolutions and baby Pokémon are included.
Hard Mode! — Tougher battle by enhancing AI and adjusting level curves.

Just play as you should play the OG but with more fluid actions and added depth!

Tips & Tricks

Catch ‘Em All Efficiently – The Pokéball icon in wild battles shows if you've already caught that species.
Shiny Hunting – Chain Fishing raises the odds of discovering Shiny Pokémon.
Build a Strong Team – Use the Physical/Special split to your advantage in making strong movesets.
Day Care – Breeding is now available (Day Care Man's Ditto).
Repel Management – The BW2 Repel System allows you to reuse Repels without reopening the menu.

History

Pokémon Red+++ began as a passion project for enhancing the original Pokémon Red, fixing its bugs and limitations, and incorporating mechanics from modern titles. It eventually grew to become a massive overhaul, with tons of new areas like Faraway Island, updated move pools, and even an optional Hard Mode for trainers that want a real challenge. It is a love letter to Gen 1, combining both nostalgia and modern Pokemon gameplay.
