What is Pokémon Clover?

Pokémon Clover is a Nintendo DS Pokémon ROM Hack made by fans which serves up a brand-new, funny, and surprisingly serious romp for the older trainers. It was made by anonymous users from the 4chan /vp/ board and features an entire brand-new region (Fochun), 386 completely original fakemon, and an edgier, meme-rich sense of humor. But don’t let the jokes fool you—this one goes very deep, with competitive AI, battle mechanics from the modern era, and a huge world packed with secrets.

How to Play

Your journey begins in Veepier Town, where you will pick a starter from Professor Stump and travel out to gain badges while unraveling the mystery of Team Karma. Nearly all gameplay elements veer towards classic-style Pokémon but with some modern twists here and there: reusable TMs, HMs that can be deleted, and a repel system very much like that of Black/White 2. Some main features include:

• Wonder Trading for some surprise monster swaps-
• Hidden Grottos & Phenomena for some rare encounters-
• GSC-style berry trees for some item farming-
• Custom EXP mechanic so that grinding will always remain balanced-

Tips & Tricks

1. Team synergy is important: The AI is smart, so expect your opponents to make intelligent swaps. Make sure you have a complete team with coverages.
2. Explore: Hidden items, side-quests, Easter eggs...there are a lot! Talk to NPCs and investigate any corners you think look perspective.
3. Use Wonder Trading Early On: It may clobber down a strong fakemon for you!
4. Use Custom Mechanics to Your Advantage: Phenomena (random overworld events) can grant rare rewards-make sure to keep an eye out for shimmering grass or clouds.

History

Pokémon Clover began as a collaborative /vp/-style passion project mixing absurdist humor with genuine love for the franchise. Despite its meme-heavy roots, the developers put in honest effort polishing mechanics, sprites, and a completely original soundtrack. The game has gone through updates (currently at v1.2), which have refined difficulty, added content, and still remain true to its chaotic, tongue-in-cheek nature.
