What Is Pokémon Shiny Gold?

Pokémon Shiny Gold is a GBA-enhanced fan-made gold and silver remake. Three years after the events of the Pallet Town adventure, you take on the role of a young trainer from New Bark Town, Johto, who desires to carve out his or her own legendary journey. With updated graphics, better gameplay, and quality story elements, this ROM hack aims to breathe new life into the beloved Johto experience while preserving the nostalgia of the originals.

How to Play

Begin Your Adventure – Head to New Bark Town to receive your first Pokémon from Professor Elm.
Explore Johto – Saga across majestic places like Goldenrod City, Ruins of Alph, and all the way to battling trainers and uncovering secrets.
Battle & Catch Pokémon – Make a strong team by catching wild Pokémon and contest Gym Leaders for badges.
Unravel the Story – Experience a new take on Johto exiting new surprises and twists.

Diversify Your Team – There is a rich variety of Pokémon in Johto. Form a team that covers many types for the many challenges you will face.

Made by passionate modders, this project was conceived to modernize Pokémon Gold with visuals and gameplay design changes worthy of the GBA whilst fleshing out the storyline. The latest, Beta 5, is even better with more polish and content, arguably making it the most polished fan remake ever.
