Playing the Game

History

Pokemon TCG was released in 2000 for the Game Boy Color and was one of the earliest attempts to bring a CCG format to a single-player RPG format. It strictly follows the original rules of the TCG but adds a story campaign where you challenge Gym Leaders and earn badges in the manner of the mainline Pokemon games. While not as advanced as modern digital TCG, its retro charm and solid mechanics are still viable today.
