What is Pokémon Dark Cry: The Legend of Giratina?

A fan game in the RPG genre, Pokémon Dark Cry: The Legend of Giratina takes the classic Pokémon formula and attempts a new adventure. Initially a ROM hack of official games, it expanded into a new region-the Trion Region-and an original storyline. Team Rocket returns, with members Jesse, James, and Meowth-this time attempting to awaken Giratina and use it to conquer the world. Your task is to stop them before it is too late.

The game features Pokémon from generations I through IV, with some original Fakemon to encounter. One of the outstanding features of the game is the Recap System, which updates the trainer of key events should they take a break from the game-a very handy feature for busy trainers.

How to Play

Travel through the Trion Region while battling Trainers, catching Pokémon, and uncovering the plans of Team Rocket.
Build a powerful team out of 400 plus Pokémon from the classics to new ones.
Use the Recap System to jog your memory of the story events after a long break.
Fight Team Rocket battles to stop Giratina from falling into their clutches.

Backstory

The Dark Cry was created by a fan team consisting of Pokémon creators such as Mitchel1, Mindfreak, and Moebius, among others. It started as simply a ROM hack but soon evolved into this huge fan game with its lore, region, and mechanics intertwining. This too is not a genuine Nintendo release, so it is considered a love letter merging nostalgia with creative new ideas.
